Make-shift structures for the elementary division. But the Kids are still very happy and hopeful
Jr. high division of the School
Our Elementary graduation
I actually decided to register and open a formal school system from day-care to ninth grade after the last segment of our civil war. As I realized the huge number of children that were struggling in communities as orphans, or less privileged kids, I ventured to extend the LOVE of Christ to them and provide shelter and parental care. As the bible states that we should never depise little beginnings, I started with a two room small building for all 30 kids, and as I was praying the Lord brought me in contact with World Orphans who graciously provided us a place that became a convenient home for these Kids till the government decided that kids live in family units instead of Orphanages. I then reunited few of them with extended relatives that showed up after the war and those whose parents and relations we could not see, I found safe and godly home units for them and I took the rest of them most Orphans under my own roof for my wife and I to care for them alongside our four biological kids. May God bless the World Orphans family and Sis. Cherry Stall.
And the home they lived thank God for World Orphans, I have transformed into a clinic facility that is a blessings not only to these kids but to our church, my family and the community that never had a health facility especially during the just eneded Ebola Virus that struck the country.
This vision actually became a pressing need after one of the ex-fighters visited our service after the war to turn his life over to Christ. His testimony that day triggered so much tears from our eyes especially when he reached a part of his testimony of how he used to pound newly born babies in a mortar and drink the fresh blood in order to keep his charm for protection active on the war front. After that testimony I decided to reach out to vulnerable and hopeless kids in our communites.
I started up with thirty Kids and to pay School fees for all those kids at that time was not possible so I had volunteers who came in to help as teachers in our School, and after few years, I opened the School up to the community so that the children in the Refuge home will receive some form of competition from the community students that enrolled in the School.
The School was previously to provide an education for the children that were in my Refuge home, most of whom have now graduated from high School and some are in higher grade School or universities. The refuge home program has now been changed to a rehabilitation for Kids and addicts because our laws states that no child of 18 years should be in an orphanage home and most of the Kids I started with are over that age.
The Victorious Faith Academy is reaching out to lots of community kids most of whom have never had an opportunity to attend a formal School since 2004. Our efforts within the years have been met with so many challenges as the children of School going age, some being Orphans were languishing in the community with a desperate desire to enroll in School but never had the upper hand to do so.
Most parents could not afford to pay School fees for their children, either because they do not have a job doing or if they ever had one, their income was way yonder low to cover their rent, feeding, and other bills let alone School fees for their kids. So what I have seen some parents with more than one child do, is to select one among the children that they can manage to send to School with their meager resources and the others will have to wait.
Our School has over one hundred studrnts but ninety percent of that number do not either pay or complete the School fees for their kids before the School year runs out. And we depend on those School fees to pay the workers, renew our License with the ministry of education, and other necessary cost that go with such institution.
• Salary for us to fully employ or contract qualified teaching Staff to ensure commitment and dedication, and efficiency in order to prepare the children for the future.
• School building: We have a plot of land behind the church but we need about $50,000 dollars to put up two regular school buildings one for the elementary and one for the Junior high division. The building you see on the photo is something we put up temporarily to help the children; but it poses a great challenge during the high rains due to the leakage.
• No safe drinking water for the students. (We are trusting the Lord to open the avenue for us to have a hand pump in the School compound as we are buying drinking every day for the students)
